New treasure goblins
Patch 2.1.2 is the next frontier for Diablo 3, and it includes new variations on everyone's favorite loot pinata, the treasure goblin. Patch 2.1.2 brings new items, monsters, maps, and Season II

The devs recognize that the game's reliance on randomness has resulted in some less than fun scenarios, long hallways (or loops) in randomly generated maps that lead to nowhere. Moving forward, hallways and loops will be shorter and monster density in low-density areas will be improved. Additionally, some maps that were fairly static, like Tristram Fields, Oasis, Spider Caves, and Leoric's Jail will now generate in a more random way to add variety. The death penalty is also getting some tweaks, because the way a map layout was generated could make the penalty worse when you died in a particularly distant spot -- in Greater Rifts, you'll now be able to revive at your corpse, but with a stacking time penalty to make the death penalty more even.

Back in town, layouts have been changed to prevent the long, long, long walk to get to gems or transmogs, especially in Act I.

With patch 2.1.2, Season II will begin, with a selection of Conquests -- some returning from Season I, some brand new. Expect a new host of rewards for this season, including the leg and feet transmog pieces that match the set you started collecting in Season I.

Patch 2.1.2 is coming "soon," though the devs wouldn't commit to a more specific date.

The Ruins of Sescheron and more upcoming content

Beyond patch 2.1.2, we'll be seeing a new Ruins of Sescheron zone located in Act III. This will take us to the barbarian city Baal razed in Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction. We'll visit the ruins, where the dead are buried, but they'll be full of traps and new monsters to that will keep us on our toes.

Additionally, we'll be getting plenty of great new loot, including new legendaries and sets. Because, after all, collecting new and awesome gear is what the world of Diablo is all about. But as to when we'll see the loot mentioned at BlizzCon -- especially the cat on a stick weapon that we saw on-screen that went unexplained by the devs, we will see.

Diablo 3: Console Legendary Gems Have Been Replaced

Legendary Gems that were taken in hotfix have been replaced. The issues with Legendary Gems on the console Ultimate Evil Edition of Diablo III have been resolved. An earlier console hotfix ended up causing issues, including unintentionally removing gems from heroes. Those gems have been replaced by higher ranked Legendary Gems, for the characters affected. Set items are not always the best regarding stats, but wearing this ring can unlock some really powerful set bonuses early, freeing up equipment slots for other items. By completing all five Act 1 bounties there's a small chance you'll get this as a reward from Tyrael. The drop rate was raised significantly in the 2.1 patch in the PC version, so be sure to grab this one as soon as you can do bounties in Adventure Mode.

9. The Witching Hour. It doesn't have a legendary affix, but with the guaranteed increase of attack speed and critical hit damage, this will boost your DPS like no other belt. Any mob can drop it, but you have to be very lucky.

10. Bane of the Powerful. The 15% damage increase against elites speaks for itself. Add this legendary gem to a socketed ring or amulet and you're good. Greater Rift bosses drop it, only on PC. Legendary gems are almost always guaranteed drops until you have them all, so just do Greater Rifts and you'll have one soon.

11. Aether Walker. This one's a new item added in patch 2.1 so I didn't see one in-game yet, but I'm pretty sure this wand opens up a lot of new possibilities for your wizard character. Any mob can drop it, but only on PC and only if you're playing with a seasonal character. The item will be added to non-seasonal game modes after Season 1 ends.

12. Hellfire Amulet. The amulet comes with an extra random passive skill. You get four passives at level 70. This amulet adds a slot for a fifth. The extra passive skill cannot be re-rolled, though, so it'll be challenging to finally get the one you need. It's a craftable item, and it's difficult to get all the materials needed. 13. Bottomless Potions. There are many types of legendary potions and they pretty much make normal health potions useless. As the description says, they're bottomless. The legendary affixes are just extra help against elite packs. These items only drop at Torment I difficulty or higher.

14. Embodiment of the Marauder set. Because of the set bonuses, this is the ultimate gear for the most powerful Demon Hunter builds right now. Roll a Demon Hunter, get it to level 70, and set the difficulty to Torment I or higher.

15. Raiment of the Jade Harvester set. Just like the Marauder set above, because of the set bonuses, the Jade set is essential for many Witch Doctor builds. Roll a Witch Doctor, get it to level 70, and set the difficulty to Torment I or higher.
